Tsunami Relief at UCLA ~ Remembering the Tsunami
& Earthquake of Eastern Japan
A collaborate event between Nikkei Student Union,
Japanese Student Association, & an exchange student from Meiji Gakuin
University, Japan
As various reports and news fill our media,
people's awareness of Tohoku Japan's situation is slowly diminishing. However,
Japan's road to recovery is still long, and is still in dire need of other
countries' support and awareness for the affected areas.
Today, a year after the event, we will examine and
discuss how and what we, in the United States, can do to help Japan move
forward. In addition, during our meeting we will discuss about the unity and
teamwork that led the Tohoku areas to a smoother recovery and talk about what
we can learn from this sense of community.
This event is sponsored through the East Japan
Natural Disaster Support Team of Meiji Gakuin University's Volunteer Center, Do
For Smile, and will discuss about the current situations of Japan, and the
importance of community.
